REVERSE OSMOSIS
Reverse Osmosis is a state-of-the-art in water treatment technology that was first developed in the late 1950's by the U.S. Government as a method of desalinating sea water. Also known as Ultra-Filtration, reverse osmosis today has earned its rightful status as the most convenient and through method to filter water It is used by most water and soda bottling plants and by many industries that requite ultra-refined water in manufacturing. Now this advanced technology is available and affordable to the public as the ultimate in drinking water filtration systems.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Reverse Osmosis is the process by which water molecules are forced through a 0.0001 micron semi-permeable membrane through the use of water pressure. Long sheets of the membrane are ingeniously sandwiched together and rolled up around a hollow central tube in a spiral fashion. The membrane allows to pass trough, filtering out almost everything else including 90-95% of all contaminants in the water.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The body of a water softener is a tank filled with resin beads covered with sodium ions. As hard water passes through, the resin beads act like a magnet attracting the calcium and magnesium ions (hardness) in exchange for the sodium ions. Eventually the resin beads become saturated with mineral ions and have to be "re-charged." This process is called regeneration, and is conducted by the control valve on the top of the tank. The brine solution, carrying the displaced calcium and magnesium ions, is the flushed down the drain by fresh water. The regenerated resin beads can be used again and again.
